Description
DNA with its inherited programmable nature allows the bottom-up construction of functional nanostructures using supramolecular interactions for applications in biology, materials, photonics and nanofabrication. Design and synthesis of two novel water soluble tetraphenylethylene-viologen derivatives, TPE-VI and TPE-V2 are described here. The aggregation induced emission behaviour were analysed in water-THF mixture. TPE-VI showed aggregation behaviour with increase in the THF fraction. Whereas TPE-V2 displays good solubility in this solvent mixture. Further, CT-DNA interaction studies displayed the efficient DNA binding properties of TPE-V1 and TPE-V2. (author)
