Mass spectrometry and radiolysis of several macrocyclic polyethers

  • 1. D. I. Mendeleev Moscow Chemical-Technological Institute, USSR

Description

Data on the radiation stability of benzo-12-crown-4, dibenzo-18-crown-6, dibenzo-24-crown-8, and dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 have been presented. The mass spectra of crown ethers with various substituents in the macrocyclic ring have been obtained and analyzed. A combination of methods of investigation which complement one another (mass spectrometry and γ radiolysis) and the use of numerous literature data on mass spectrometry have made it possible to postulate a mechanism for the radiolysis of the crown ethers investigated
