Structure and magnetic properties of electrodeposited Co-W and Co-Ni-W films

Methods of electrolytic deposition are used to prepare hard-magnetic Co-W, Co-Ni-W films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA). It is shown that adsorption on cathode of fine-dispersed sol of the main compounds of codeposited metals, Co(OH)2 in particular, has sufficient effect on crystallite oriented growth and, correspondingly, on PMA value. The films investigated have high microhardness and low internal macrostresses, which is very important from the view point of stability of magnetic coating properties under their practical use
