Description
Different tumors were treated by mean of intra-operative radiation therapy (IORT) with 100 KV X photons (stomach, pancreas, lungs, rectum, colon, soft tissue sarcomas, breast). The results show a significant improvement in local control but not in survival. IORT improves the local prognosis of many tumors, but it appears that survival will only be improved by combining the loca-regional effects if IORT and postoperative radiotherapy with those of chemotherapy aimed at reducing distant metastases
