Compressibility and deformability of nuclei

Description
Various effective interactions of Skyrme and Gogny are used to calculate monopole and quadrupole vibrations using the random phase approximation in a self-consistent Hartree-Fock basis. The monopole excitation strength is shown to depend on nuclear matter compressibility, estimated here to be approximately 200MeV. Quadrupole deformation and high angular momentum distorsion are estimated
Abstract (French)
Les vibrations RPA des noyaux 16O, 40Ca, 90Zr et 208Pb ont ete calculees a partir des energies et des orbites de Hartree-Fock avec des forces differentes, a savoir la force de Brink et Boecker, la force de Gogny et plusieurs forces de Skyrme. On montre que la vibration monopolaire isoscalaire concentre son taux de transition a une energie qui depend fortement de la compressibilite de la matiere nucleaire. Quelques donnees experimentales provisoires suggerent que la compressibilite de la matiere nucleaire est de l'ordre de 200MeV. On montre que les forces de Skyrme donnent une polarisation quadrupolaire isovectorielle trop fortement repulsive. Le mecanisme des distorsions que subit un noyau qui acquiert un moment cinetique de plus en plus eleve (prolate→oblate→prolate) est illustre sur un modele solubleAdditional details
