Determination of cross section of nucleon and pion inelastic interaction with carbon and lead nuclei at an energy of 0.5-5.0 TeV

Description
Measurements of cross section for nucleon and pion inelastic interaction with carbon and lead nuclei at the energy over 500 GeV are performed. To compare the results obtained to the accelerator data, pA- and πA-cross section conversion to elementary pp- and πp-interaction cross sections, using multiple scattering theory, was carried out. Inelastic nucleon-nucleon interaction cross section was parametrized in the form of dependence on the energy σ(E)=28.9+0.13 ln2E. The theory describes well the accelerator and the obtained data
