Matrix consisting of cultivable mutants of unicellular green algae and method of uranium production using this matrix
Description
For uranium production from seawater, a matrix consisting of a cultivable mutant of unicellular green algae is described. The algae are uranium-resistant and are able to take up uranium dissolved in seawater. Unicellular green algae are irradiated with X-rays, then put on culture media with high uranium contents and left there until they form a colony. The matrix is then put into a filter cage whose sieve walls are permeable to seawater but not to the mutants. The filter cage is placed in the sea in such a way that the tidal flows pass through it. Zur Urangewinnung aus dem Meer wird eine Matrix beschrieben, die aus kultivierbaren Mutanten von einzelligen Gruenalgen besteht, die uranvertraeglich und zur Aufnahme von im Meerwasser geloestem Uran geeignet sind. Zur Erzeugung werden einzellige Gruenalgen mittels Roentgenstrahlung bestrahlt, anschliessend auf stark uranhaltige Naehrboeden gebracht und darauf bis zur Kolonienbildung belassen. Die ueberlebenden Mutanten werden sodann in der ueblichen Weise weiterkultiviert. Die Matrix wird in einen Filterkaefig gebracht mit aus Sieben gebildeten Wandungen, die fuer Meerwasser durchlaessig und fuer Mutanten undurchlaessig sind. Der Filterkaefig wird in das Meerwasser gebracht dergestalt, dass die durch Ebbe und Flut verursachten Stroemungen durch den Kaefig hindurchgeleitet werden. (HPH)Files
