Global Outreach Program. History and highlights

The International Skeletal Society's (ISS) Global Outreach Program (GOP) holds significant importance in the advancement of the mission of the ISS to advance the education and knowledge of musculoskeletal disease in areas of the world where musculoskeletal educational resources are limited. According the ISS bylaws, these programs offer high-quality education on the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal disorders internationally. This is especially crucial in regions where physicians may have limited access to top-tier teaching due to financial or geographical constraints. Insufficient knowledge among radiologists often leads to the underdiagnosis of various skeletal disorders. The GOP plays a pivotal role in educating radiologists, thereby contributing to enhanced health outcomes and improved patient care [1]. The GOP Committee prides itself on its rich diversity, encompassing a broad spectrum of geographical and gender representation in both pathology and radiology musculoskeletal specialties. We are committed to promoting inclusivity and gender diversity, recognizing the importance of different perspectives in shaping a comprehensive and impactful outreach program.
