Description

The disposal of hazardous chemical wastes is one of the most critical and far-reaching problems facing the industrialized world. Enforcement of new federal and state regulations will require the development of a cost effective analytical procedure which is sensitive to many toxic waste substances. The application of neutron activation analysis for organohalide detection is presented as a predisposing and complementary method to gas and liquid chromatography procedures for priority pollutant analyses. The concept is introduced that NAA offers an unprecedented broad-spectrum monitoring technique in the ability to determine a toxic substance parameter known as the organohalides
