The photoluminescence of the surface centers of MgO generated by γ-irradiation
Description
The luminescence of polycrystalline γ-irradiated MgO excited by 253.7 nm mercury line was investigated. It was found that the luminescence transition energies observed as 3.22 eV and 2.38 eV are very close to those of F+ and F centers observed in bulk. Both potoluminescence bands were tentatively ascribed to the surface centers Fsub(s)sup(+) and Fsub(s), respectively. (author)
