Preparation of small-area Josephson junction using the scratched edge of a Pb/In layer

Description
Superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) Josephson junctions with areas less than 1 μm2 were formed at the scratched edge of the Pb/In electrode. The scratch was made with a razor blade. Notwithstanding the simple technique used for scratching, the yield to get good junction is relatively high. The I-V characteristic with and without 70-GHz radiation is shown
