Differences between argon- and krypton-induced reactions leading to the same compound nuclei 158Er and 156Er
Description
The observed differences in the neutron-evaporation excitation functions for argon and krypton induced reactions may be due to the strong friction in the classical dynamic model. In order to reproduce the complete fusion cross sections, a large energy loss in the Kr entrance channel is needed. This large energy loss may be associated with the preequilibrium emission of neutrons in the Kr channel. Neither the large energy loss nor the preequilibrium emission is expected in the Ar channel
