Performance of the CLEO II CsI calorimeter
Description
The CLEO II experiment was installed in the interaction point of CESR in 1989. It contains an electromagnetic calorimeter constructed with 7800 CsI(Tl) crystals, each viewed by four silicon photodiodes. This paper discusses its design, construction and performance. Photon energy resolutions of 1.4% at 5.2 GeV, 4.2% at 100 MeV, and angular resolution of order 5 milliradians are observed for the central barrel calorimeter. (author)
