Deformation of metal surface layers under radiant heating
Description
Damages of micror surface of metals due to the plastic deformation of a surface layer under a stationary heat flow with the density up to 10 kW/cm2, in the radiated spot 3 mm in diameter were studied. The features of the morphology of the damage development of mono- and polycrystal molybdenum, tungsten, and copper were revealed. Radiation stability of the metal surface was determined by the relationship of thermal stresses and plastic deformation resistance of a surface layer. A sharp decrease of the parameter mentioned with increase in temperature was characteristic of molybdenum and tungsten
