Synthesis of N23-xMexB6 (Me - Ti, Zr, Hf) borides by means of the reactive sintering at high pressure and at high temperature

Description
Ternary N23-xMexB6 borides with Cr23C6-type structure from powders of Ni and TiB2, ZrB2, HfB2 are synthesized by means of the reactive sintering at a high pressure of 8 GPa and a temperature of 1200 oC. The crystal structure of this boride, as well as the crystal structure of boride with same initial composition produced by means of the induction melting, is refined. It is shown that compounds of Ni17Ti6B6, Ni21.4Zr1.6B6, and Ni21.5Hf1.5B6 compositions are formed as a result of the reactive sintering.
