Clinical evaluation of the DMSA-Sn-Tc99m complex in isotopic kidney investigation
Description
Because of its physical properties technetium 99m is used to label new molecules for kidney investigations. Amongst these molecules dimercaptosuccinic acid is one of the most suitable. The excellent visualization of the kidney up to 24h after injection has led to studies on the renal kinetics of the molecule and their comparison with those of mercury bichloride-Hg 197. The renal cortex possesses a strong affinity for the DMSA-Sn-Tc99m complex. A stabilization of the kidney activity observed 8 hours after injection suggests that the molecule could be used in future to test the tubular function. The experiments were carried out on a small number of cases and must be corroborated by other observations. The molecule must be prepared and checked before clinical use
Abstract (French)
Les caracteristiques physiques du Technetium 99m ont suscite le marquage avec cet isotope de nouvelles molecules pour l'investigation renale. Parmi celles-ci, l'acide dimercapto-succinique apparait comme l'une des plus favorables. L'excellente visualisation renale jusqu'a 24 h apres l'injection a incite a etudier la cinetique renale de la molecule et a la comparer avec la cinetique du bichlorure de mercure-Hg 197. Le cortex renal presente une grande affinite pour le complexe DMSA-Sn-Tc99m. La presence d'une stabilisation de l'activite renale des la 8eme heure apres l'injection suggere l'utilisation future de la molecule comme test de la fonction tubulaire. L'experimentation fut pratiquee sur un petit nombre de cas et doit etre corroboree par d'autres observations.
