Method of volume-decreasing radioactive liquids wastes
Description
Purpose: To significantly increase the compression strength of pellets without using binders. Constitution: Radioactive liquid wastes are concentrated, sintered into powderous products and compressed at a pelletizing pressure of greater than 1.5 t/cm2 into pellets. Increase in the pelletizing pressure in this way can improve the compression strength of the pellets significantly. Upon preparing the pellets, a tabletting process of compressing powderous products in a cylinder by a piston is preferably employed. (Horiuchi, T.)
