Technique for gas amplification coefficient of gas-discharge proportinal counter
Description
A new technique is reported to ensure higher measurement accuracy of gas amplification coefficient GAC of gas - discharged proportional counter. The technique suggested consists in the fact that monochromatic radiation affects the counter, and the pulses formed on anode are registered and compared with calibrating charge. To provide the accuracy of GAC measurement the pulses are formed on the delay line with the period delay more than that of collection of all primary ionization electrons on the anode, and the value of pulses is measured in not less that two points differring in time from the beginning of pulse development. The technique provides the calculation of the counter GAC without determination of anode voltage and mobility of positively charged ions is gas filling. The measurement results obtained at the gas composition of 90% Ar+10% CH4 up to GAC=100 are in a good agrecment with the calculated values
