The observation of the 1H rigid lattice in the α phase of the Mg2NiHsub(x) system by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance

  • 1. National Chemical Laboratory for Industry, Tsukuba, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

Hydrogen atoms dissolve interstitially into metals to form a solid solution called the α phase. Hydrogen atoms can diffuse very fast in the α phases of metal hydrides. In nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra the 1H resonance line observed for the α phase is motionally narrowed. A 1H rigid lattice has not yet been reported for the α phase. In the present work, however, the authors have observed protons in the rigid lattice state for the α phase of the Mg2NiHsub(x) system. (Auth.)
