Assessment of risks of old oil drills for underground waters and the environment of the PACA region

Description

Whereas 59 oil exploration drills have been performed in the PACA region between 1949 and 1988 (without any positive outcome), and as some incidents occurred later on due to a lack of abandonment measures, this document reports a study of assessment of potential risks on all these old drills, based on available public documents. The authors thus first discuss the origins and validity of data, and propose a synthesis of technical, geological and hydro-geological information. Then, based on these information, they propose a risk assessment: criteria to identify incidence and risks, risk status, discussion of this status for the different locations
