Influence of environmental parameters on the secondary neutrons of the cosmic radiation in the Alps

  • 1. HelmholtzZentrum Muenchen, Neuherberg (Germany)
  • 2. Bern Univ. (Switzerland)

Description

By means of the mobile Bonner neutron spectrometer of the Helmholtz Center Munich (HMGU), Germany, the energy distribution of secondary neutrons from cosmic radiation was measured for the first time at the Jungfraujoch, Switzerland, in the Sphinx observatory and at the research station close by. For June 2016, significant differences were observed if compared to the energy distribution measured at the Environmental Research Station (UFS). These differences are due to different altitudes, topography and snow cover at both locations.
