An overview of digital photoelasticity

Creators

  • 1. Department of Applied Mechanics, Indian Institutes of Technology Madras, Chennai (India)

Description

In the last two decades, digital photoelasticity has seen great developments and it has now matured into a well-developed technique for reliable measurement of stress and strain distributions in engineering applications. Two principal approaches have been in use, one that uses phase shifting and the other that uses colour information for data reduction. Suitable techniques for data reduction from these methods and their use for solving a variety of problems is highlighted. (author)
