Description

The inertial confinement fusion by the fast ignition method is becoming more and more realistic. In Osaka University, the Fast Ignition Realization EXperiment named FIREX project is being planned. In order to study the implosion process and to diagnose physical properties of the compressed target, diagnostic systems need to have much higher temporal and spatial resolutions. In this article, the recent developments of X-ray imaging devices and neutron spectrometers for plasma diagnostics in the fast ignition experiment are reviewed. (J.P.N.)
