Paramagnetic centers in irradiated ammonium nitrate

Description
The EPR spectra of irradiated single crystals of NH4NO3 were obtained. The paramagnetic centers NO3, ONOO, N032- at 77 K, and NO2 observed in the 160-290 K region were identified. The doublet of bands of 220 < T < 250 K was hypothetically assigned to the formation of an OH radical. The parameters of the EPR spectra and orientation of the radicals in the crystal lattice were determined. The initial radiochemical yields of NO3, ONOO, and NO32- radicals were estimated. 10 refs., 2 figs., 2 tabs
