Description

A fully relativistic two-nucleon model is developed for (p, π) reactions within the framework of the distorted-wave Born approximation. The model retains the full covariant forms of the πNN and πNΔ couplings and uses a relativistic intermediate delta propagator. The continuum and bound state nucleon wave functions are obtained by solving the Dirac equation with appropriate potentials. First application to the 40Ca(p, π)41Ca(g.s.) reaction shows an encouraging agreement with the experimental data. (orig.)
