Corrosion cracking of steam turbine metal

Description

Certain cases of fracture during operation of steam turbine blades and disks are analysed. Empirical dependence of crack corrosion propagation velocity on the medium temperature, manganese content, tempering condition and metal yield strength is presented. Relation between pitting corrosion and stress corrosion is established. It is marked that the increase of manganese, vanadium and nickel content in steel intensifies the corrosion crack propagation velocity
