Description

The paper gives an extensive summary of magnetic-confinement experiments presented at the Seventh International Conference on Plasma Physics and Controlled Nuclear Fusion Research held at Innsbruck, Austria from 23-30 August 1978. Mainly it shows: a) The experimental evidence concerning the tokamak devices. (Confinement method satisfying temperature and purity requirements). b) The successful results obtained for mirror machines, with neutral injection as heating method. c) Advances made with different mirror machines. d) Results obtained in High-beta experiments
