Self-operation type control rod
Description
In the present invention, one or plurality of rod-like control elements connected together while being attracted and maintained by utilizing an electromagnet having a certain curie point are incorporated into a control rod using a fluid differential pressure system. Thus, upon reduction of a coolant flow rate, a plurality of substantially spherical neutron absorbers in the control rod are spontaneously fallen gravitationally due to the reduction in the buoyancy of the coolants to thereby scram the nuclear reactor. Upon rising of the coolant temperature, incorporated rod-like control elements are spontaneously fallen gravitationally due to the retaining force-reducing effect by utilizing spontaneous decrease in the magnetic force of the electromagnet to thereby scram the nuclear reactor. Accordingly, this enables reactor scram also upon elevation of coolant temperature which has been impossible in the conventional fluid differential pressure type control rod. (T.M.)
