Mediatorless nanoparticle coatings of polymer: promising platforms for bioengineering and catalysts

  • 1. Department of Solid State Engineering,University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, 16628 Prague (Czech Republic)

Description

In this work we present unique approach for immobilization of electrochemically synthesized silver nanoparticles on polyethyleneterephthalate foil based on physical incorporation of particles into thin polymer surface layer induced by polarized excimer laser light [2]. Depending on the concentration of nanoparticle solution in immobilization process, one can effectively control surface morphology of processed sample, thus tailoring its specific surface area. Changes in chemical composition and the surface structure of polymer after the particle immobilization were studied by advanced analytical techniques such as ARXPS, EDX, RBS, FEGSEM, TEM, and AFM.
