The radiographic findings of Barrett's esophagus in senior patients

Description

Objective: To evaluate determine the double-contrast esophagography in the diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus in senior patients. Methods: The images of double-contrast esophagography were retrospectively studied in 10 cases of Barrett' s esophagus in senior patients. All cases were eventually confirmed by the endoscopy and pathology. Results: All abnormalities were found at the low of the section of esophagus. The appearances of double contrast esophagography and successive spot radiographs were: 10 cases had abnormal mucoscal folds of esophagus, 10 cases had ulcer niche, 2 cases had filling defects, 4 cases had stenosis of esophagus and 5 cases had esophageal hiatal hernia. Conclusion: Double contrast esophagography and successive spot radiographs are valuable in finding of old man' s Barrett' s esophagus, directing treatment and prognosing evaluation. (authors)
