Symmetry of the radio emission from two high-latitude supernova remnants, G296.5 + 10.0 and G327.6 + 14.6 (SN 1006)

Description
High-resolution radio observations at 843 MHz of the shell supernova remnants G296.5 + 10.0 and G327.6 + 14.6 are presented. The observations show a high degree of bilateral symmetry in the emission intensities and the outer boundaries of the emission of the remnants. The physical parameters of the remnants are estimated and various explanations of the symmetry are considered. The influence of the interstellar magnetic field on the evolution of the remnants is examined and the X-ray and radio emissions from the two remnants are compared. 69 references
