Improvement of material properties by ion implantation

Description
Material surface mechanical properties, such as fatigue and wear, can be improved by implanting ions. For instance, nitrogen implantation improves steels and tungsten carbide wear strength. The fact to have a clear understanding of the different mechanisms involved in the above process, allows to define the basic parameters of nitrogen ions implantation

Les proprietes mecaniques de surface des materiaux: fatigue, usure, peuvent etre ameliorees par implantation d'ions. Par exemple, l'implantation d'ions azote ameliore la resistance a l'usure des aciers et des carbures de tungstene.
