On the nature of paramagnetic centers on crystalline surface of Van-Fleck paramagnets

A study was made on magnetic properties of the surface of LiTmF4 Van-Fleck paramagnet. Methods of measuring magnetic susceptibility and electron paramagnetic resonance enabled to reveal the defect paramagnetic Tm3+ centers on crystalline surface of finely dispersed powder of LiTmF4 dielectrical Van-Fleck paramagnet. 19 refs., 2 figs
