GC analyses of degradation products of D2HEPA and n-octyl thio-ether by γ-radiation of 60Co

In the determination of the degradation products of n-octyl thio-ether by gamma-radiation of 60Co, alkanes of 8 carbons are found as the main decomposition products. Degradation products of D2HEPA are first esterified by biazomethane and then analyzed by gas chromatagraphy (GC). It is found that the MEHPA in the degradation products increases from 1.02% at a dosage of 5 x 106 rads to 52.04% at a dosage of 5 x 108 rads. The detection limit for D2HEPA, MEHPA and TPPA are 1.8 x 10-8 g, 1.4 x 10-9 g and 1.1 x 10-10 g respectively
