Application of deuterium magnetic resonance to biosynthetic studies. 1. Biosynthesis of ovalicin

  • 1. Brown Univ., Providence

Description

Deuterium nuclear magnetic resonance was used to distinguish among various mechanisms for the oxidative cleavage of bergamotene to the o-mentane framework of ovalicin. In addition the deuteration positions were determined in biosynthesized ovalicin. The experimental results showed the utility of deuterium NMR as a biosynthetic tool
