Description
The toxicity and radioprotective properties of Levaden-1, a molecular combination between levamisol and AMP, combined by ionic bond, were studied. Acute Levaden-1 toxicity in the case of intraperitoneal administration was: LD16 = 1100mg/kg, LD50 = 1290mg/kg (1,71 mmol/kg), LD84 = 1500 mg/kg. Mice C57BI was given intraperitoneally a single dose of 4 mg/kg Levaden-1 on a prophylactic scheme (6 times within 35 days before irradiation) or on a therapeutic scheme (8 times within 28 days after irradiation). Both experimental and control groups of animals were gamma-irradiated with 7,5 Gy from 137Cs (LD110/11). Determined were: the survival until day 30 postirradiation, the protection coefficient α, the S30 coefficient and the mean duration of life of succumbed animals. Preirradiation administration of Levaden-1 provided 65% survival, vs. absolute lethality in the control group. On postirradiation administration, until day 30 survived 75% of the lethally irradiated mice. These results warranted further extensive investigations with Levaden-1
