Mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties in the system of stabilized ZrO2(Y2O3)/α-Al2O3
Creators
- 1. Robert Bosch GmbH, Department of Materials Science, Stuttgart
Description
In the system of stabilized ZrO2(Y2O3)/α-Al2O3, the mechanical strength of the ZrO2-rich materials is determined by strains in the microstructure. These are induced by distortions of the lattice caused by different thermal expansion coefficients of the components of the microstructure. Different densification of the various compositions in the sintering process also influences the mechanical strength. The thermal shock resistance depends on the mechanical and thermal properties of the compositions and is remarkably improved with increasing alumina content
