Description
The doublet-shaped vacuum vessel of Doublet-III was modified in 1985 to a large dee-shaped vessel, and now the device is called D III-D. Significant progress has been made on high β, H-mode, non-inductive current drive by neutral beams, and electron cyclotron heating experiments. The world record beta of 6.8% is worth noting. Also, diagnostics data on H-mode is now utilized to check physics models. This article gives a brief survey on recent D III-D experiments based on the papers presented at 12th IAEA Conference in 1988 and EPS Conference held in Venice in 1989. (author)
