Long term integrity of main pressure boundary components in the first generation of nuclear power plants in Czechoslovakia

Recently questions about nuclear safety of the units WWER 440 MW type 230 were raised not only in Czechoslovakia but also in other European countries. It is necessary to say that both units are running efficiently and without any major problems until now. The Czechoslovak Atomic Energy Commission and Department of Nuclear Safety State Surveillance Chief Inspektor are continuously following up all the safety principles and initiating series of regulatory actions to assure increasing safety requirements and to minimize any potential sources of technical problems. The paper summarize present and future works on pressure vessels and primary coolant piping components of WWER-440 type reactors. (orig./DG)
