  • 1. Ministry of Health, Beijing (China). Laboratory of Industrial Hygiene

Description

Objective: RD-98 X-ray Diagnostic Dosimeter was designed and developed with the characteristics of fast response, wide measuring range and independence of X-ray energy in order to improve the quality of imagine and reduce the radiation dose delivered to the tested persons under the diagnostic X-ray machine. It is suitable for measurement of dose, dose rate and exposure time in the conventional radiology. Method: The detector of RD-98 X-ray Diagnostic Dosimeter is made of semiconductor of Si diode as a receiver to radiation signal. To meet the requirements of energy response, the detector is compensated by special filters. The realization of all the automatic functions is based on the CPU installed in the reader with special software. Results: RD-98 X-ray Diagnostic Dosimeter is able to measure the dose ranging from 0.001 mGy to 9999 mGy, the dose rate ranging from 0.001 mGy/s to 9999 mGy/s and the exposure time ranging from 0.001 second to 9999 second. The energy response of the dosimeter from 55 keV to 150 keV is better than 5% and its reproducibility during one month is within 99%. The readings are displayed by 4 digit LED and RS-232 port is matched for the connection of a mini-printer. Conclusion: The RD-98 X-ray Diagnostic Dosimeter can be used as a test tool by itself or by a suitable combination with other equipment for quality control in X-ray diagnostic field of hospitals
