Study of the cold sources of Paluel, Gravelines, Port-la-Nouvelle, and Dampierre power plants
Description
For the same heat release 1kWth nuclear requires an amount of cooling water 60% higher than for a conventional kWth, in the same time the power installed on a site grows from 2400MWe (Porcheville plant) up to 3700MWe or 5400MWe such as at Dampierre or Paluel. This evolution increases the problems posed by the design and construction of the cooling circuit works in the same time as it seems to be an incentive to seaside plants or inland plants with cooling systems. Besides, a new cooling function of the reactor auxiliaries especially involving the nuclear safety with its specified requirements, is added to the conventional cooling function of the condenser. For the first seaside type of plant, another series of differences is seen: Paluel is a cliff site taking from and rejecting the water in the high seas, when Port-la-Nouvelle is on a plane untidal sandy coast, and Gravelines on a tidal seaport site. As for the second type of plant, Dampierre uses a closed circuit for the condenser cooling and an open circuit for the reactor auxiliary cooling systems

Pour un meme echauffement 1kW thermique nucleaire exige 60% de plus d'eau qu'un KW thermique classique, en meme temps que la puissance installee sur un site passe de 2400MWe (cas de Porcheville) a 3700MWe ou 5400MWe comme a Dampierre ou a Paluel. Cette evolution accroit les problemes poses par la conception et la realisation des ouvrages du circuit de refroidissement en meme temps qu'elle semble pousser a des installations en bord de mer, ou a l'interieur des terres sur refrigerant. En outre, a la fonction classique de refrigeration du condenseur, s'ajoute la fonction nouvelle de refrigeration des auxiliaires du reacteur ou intervient specifiquement la surete nucleaire avec ses conditions particulieres. Pour la premiere categorie de centrales situees en bord de mer, on apercoit une autre serie de differences. Ainsi Paluel est un site en falaise, prelevant et rejetant l'eau en pleine mer; Port-la-Nouvelle est aussi directement sur la mer, mais en cote plate, sablonneuse et pratiquement sans maree; quant a Gravelines, il s'agit d'un site portuaire soumis a la maree. Pour la premiere categorie de centrales Dampierre presente un circuit ferme pour la refrigeration des condenseurs, mais un circuit ouvert pour la refrigeration des auxiliaires nucleairesFiles
