Description

Results of experimental studies on controlling beam instabilities by initial beam modulation and introducing an initial perturbation of non-fluctuating nature are presented in this paper. It is shown that h.f. high-power oscillations may be controlled by a very weak regular outer h.f. signal. The control of oscillation boils down to varying the spectra with respect to frequencies and phase velocities, degree of stochasticity and non-linearity of the excited oscillations. At a regular signal power of about 0.1 - 1W the h.f. oscillations excited by beam-plasma interaction can be controlled with a power of 100-150 kW. Since the correlation method and the method of direct observation of the oscillation shape with subsequent Fourier analysis are the most efficient methods of studying the dynamics of instability development, the degree of stochasticity of the excited oscillations and their frequency spectra, it was particularly these methods which were used in studying h.f. and l.f. oscillations in the plasma-beam discharge. The results of measuring the growth rates of h.f. fields for an interaction of non-modulated and modulated electron beams with the plasma are presented. (author)

Privedeny rezul'taty jeksperimental'nyh issledovanij po upravleniju puchkovymi neustojchivostjami s pomoshh'ju nachal'noj moduljacii puchka i zadanija nachal'nogo vozmushhenija nefluktuacionnogo haraktera. Pokazano, chto s pomoshh'ju ochen' slabogo vneshnego reguljarnogo VCh-signala mozhno upravljat' VCh-kolebanijami bol'shoj moshhnosti. Upravlenie svoditsja k izmeneniju spektrov po chastotam i fazovym skorostjam, stepeni stohastichnosti i nelinejnosti vozbuzhdaemyh kolebanij. Pri moshhnosti reguljarnogo signala ≈ 0,1 — 1 vt udaetsja upravljat' VCh-kolebanijami, vozbuzhdaemymi v rezul'tate vzaimodejstvija puchka s plazmoj, s moshhnost'ju 100 - 150 kvt. Tak kak naibolee jeffektivnym sposobom issledovanija dinamiki razvitija neustojchivostej, stepeni stohastichnosti vozbuzhdaemyh kolebanij, ih chastotnyh spektrov javljajutsja korreljacionnyj metod i metod neposredstvennogo nabljudenija formy kolebanij s posledujushhim Fur'e-analizom, to imenno jeti metody byli ispol'zovany dlja issledovanija VCh- i NCh-kolebanij v plazmenno-puchkovom razrjade. Privodjatsja rezul'taty izmerenij inkrementov narastanija VCh-polej pri vzaimodejstvii nemodulirovannyh i modulirovannyh jelektronnyh puchkov s plazmoj. (author)
