Description

Mitsubishi (MHI) and Westinghouse Electric Corporation began a 5-year programme to produce a nuclear power plant that reduces fuel costs and extends fuel cycles up to 18 months etc. As a result the designers have created the advanced pressurized water reactor (APWR). Total plant design and extensive verification are complete. An innovative core design, an advanced steam generator, simplified fluid systems, a large capacity steam turbine, a digital C and I system, and the APWR Testing Program are briefly discussed. 1 fig., 1 tab
