Beam disturbance monitoring in ion linear accelerators by the secondary particle distribution
Description
Ratios describing distribution of lost particles in the linear accelerator of protons and H- ions in the process of longitudinal motion perturbation and H- ions recharging upon residual gas are obtained. Connection of the secondary ionizing irradiation field with the distribution of lost particles is studied. The analysis conducted has shown that special characteristic distributions of particle losses along the accelerator axis correspond to the perturbation types considered. It is underlined that using the ratios obtained it is principally possible to restore the picture of particle losses distribution and to make a diagnosis of the beam perturbation type according to detector indices
