Burn Up Measurement in La Hague facility

Description
After several years of use in a nuclear power plant, spent nuclear fuel still contains a lot of energy. Nowadays, with a constant increase in energy demand, and natural resources more and more difficult to extract, it does not seem pertinent to lose this recoverable spent fuel energy. La Hague facility is one these plants where usable material is separated (96% of total material) and end waste is conditioned. During all the reprocessing process, nuclear materials are controlled to minimize safety and criticality issues. One of these controls is the burn-up measurement. After a short presentation of La Hague process, its principle will be exposed. (authors)
