The U.S. NRC Division of Human Factors Safety perspective on operator training and qualifications

Description

The author comments the point of view of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the NRC) and the efforts made by this commission and with the support of other organisms and institutions to develop guidelines, procedures and facilities dealing with nuclear power plant operator training and qualification. The following aspects are discussed: operator qualifications, licensing examination, development of new programs, training organization, to development of training facilities, personnel selection and assessment. He evokes some other aspects of shift organization like the duration of the work on shift for engineers and the transmission of experience
