Matching conditions in the design of gravitational detector systems

Creators

Description

The problem of optimization is reduced to an equilibrium between two partial signal/noise ratios, one (mechanical) is proportional to nsup(-1/2), the other (electrical) is proportional to n sup(1/2) where n= resolution time in detector resonance half-period multiples. Respecting two adaptation conditions while varying μ(=relative transducing mass) it is found that the optimum resolution time n* is proportional to 1/μ whereas the corresponding sensitivity depends very little on μ
