Low-momentum corrections of the ALICE TPC dE/dx-signal

Description

The Time Projection Chamber (TPC) is the main tracking and particle identification detector of the ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC. At momenta below 300 MeV/c the TPC dE/dx signal shows a deviation from the expected behavior as described by the Bethe-Bloch formula. Three different correction methods for the calculation of the TPC dE/dx signal for electrons and pions are tested. The quality of the corrections is evaluated by their effects on the mean TPC dE/dx signal, the relative resolution and the separation power. Potential reasons for the deviation from the expected behavior and the corrected dE/dx signals will be presented.
