The biological basis for dose limitation in the skin
Description
The scope of the Task Group's work was to include (1) a review of available dose-effect data for cancer induction and deterministic effects in the skin to estimate risk for these effects; (2) a review of the evidence concerning which cells are at risk, to determine at what depth dose measurements should be made; and (3) a re-examination of dosimetry considerations and weighting factors for skin, with reference to the effects of 'hot particles' and ultraviolet radiation.
