Topological classification of symmetry defects and solitions in this layers of liquid crystals

The topological classification of symmetry defects and solitons in thin, essentially two dimensional, layers is given for some liquid crystals. The method of this classification is based on homotopy groups of a manifold of internal states of a liquid crystal. (author)
